Marie Glon completed a doctoral dissertation in history in 2014, under the title : "Les Lumières chorégraphiques. Les maîtres de danse européens au cœur d’un phénomène éditorial (1700-1760) [Choreographic Enlightenment. European dance masters at the heart of an editorial phenomenon (1700-1760)", supervised by Georges Vigarello (École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales [ School of Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences]). In a cross-study of the dancers’ practices, the History of the Body and the History of Books, her work dealt with Chorégraphie ou l’art de décrire la dance [Choreography or the art of describing dance], the first great dance-writing system, published in Paris by Raoul-Auger Feuillet in 1700 : the idea was to reveal the practices related to choreography in the XVIIth century and understand the new configurations these practices brought about in the dance community.
While working at her thesis, Marie Glon lectured for four years as an ATER [temporary research assistant], then a junior lecturer within the Dance department of Paris 8 university, delivering courses on the history of dance notation systems, the methodology of the written word, and methodology of research.
From 2003 to 2015, she was editor-in-chief of "Repères, cahier de danse" [Landmarks, papers on dance and choreography], a journal published by la Briqueterie / Centre de développement chorégraphique du Val-de-Marne (http://www.cairn.info/revue-reperes-cahier-de-danse.htm) and devised programmes of mediation and training in choreographic culture for several institutions, like Centre Pompidou, Arcadi or the Louvre museum. Between 2009 and 2013, she has notably coordinated, the Petite université populaire de la danse [A dance adult education centre], a partnership between Théâtre National de Chaillot, the Louvre museum and the dance department of Paris 8 university).
In September 2015, she was elected a dance lecturer in the Arts department of Lille 3 university, and joined the Centre d’Étude des Arts Contemporains [Study Centre for contemporary arts], where she continues her research on dance history, in its social and aesthetic aspects.
