André Villa

Musician, composer, and sound designer, André Villa’s multidisciplinary background combines musicology, philosophy, cognitive sciences, and the performing arts. In 2013, he defended his doctoral thesis on a transdisciplinary approach to music perception and cognition (CICM - University of Paris 8). Back in Brazil, he spent eight years as a teacher-researcher in the Department of Cinema and Audiovisual at the Federal University of Pará (UFPa), where he founded and directed LAB-AUDIO, a teaching structure and research laboratory in music and sound production for film and audiovisual. He specializes in sound/image relationships and new media creation and production processes. Back at the University of Paris 8 as a lecturer, he currently teaches courses on sound and music creation for audiovisual works, the use of electroacoustic devices in contemporary musical composition/practice, and the relationship between music and other arts.
