Maître de conférences
Marked by rich, diverse experiences as a musician, as a teacher of present-day music, as a programmer and a director of the rock festival ‘La Ferme Électrique’ (Electric Farm), Guillaume GILLES, born 1980, has been a lecturer at Paris 8 University since 2014. He lectures on the history, analysis and practice of popular music genres (rock’n’roll, noise music, punk, rhythm’n’blues, reggae …), both contemporary and historic. After completing a doctoral thesis dealing with the representations of savagery in U.S. American rock’n’roll in the 50s, he pursues his research in the field of popular music with a strong bearing on comparative analysis and aesthetics, with a careful approach of musical detail.
